Greg_Merril_better_halfGreg Merril is an expert in the use of game design techniques and mechanics to solve problems and engage audiences. The Reilly Group partners with Greg and his company Action Games, to develop, launch and market innovative high quality interactive media technologies for health and education. Greg has produced several award winning educational apps for the iPad and mobile devices including most recently the National Geographic’s GeoBee Challenge which was the #1 top grossing educational app on the iPad and finalist for the Mobi Award. In addition to National Geographic, Greg works with a range of clients including Elsevier, Target Entertainment Group, Coleman Research Group, and the Mayo Clinic.

Prior to founding Action Games, Greg served as founding CEO for two VC-backed fast growth wellness and medical product companies: HT Medical and Interaction Laboratories. In these roles, he invented and successfully commercialized several products including computer-based simulators for surgical training and a portfolio of patents and products to make video games physically active and fitness equipment more fun. In July 2000, he led HT Medical through a $42 million merger with Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ: IMMR).

Greg has been designated a “Hero of the Information Age” by the Smithsonian Institution and his successful development of simulators for surgery training is part of the National Museum of American History’s permanent research collection on Medical Innovation.

He is an author of numerous peer reviewed technical papers and inventor on 17 issued patents. He successfully championed Congressional appropriations funding for medical training and certification.
